The mental health and wellbeing of female farmers is one of the elements of sustainable agriculture. In agriculture, a lot of things are said about animal welfare, and very little about human welfare. Welfare should be about the whole ecosystem. The unpredictability of remuneration, the market, the weather and yields, as well as more and more regulations and the lack of sufficient time off work affect the psychological wellbeing of those working in agriculture. Women, who often combine farm work with family responsibilities, are at a greater risk of stress, burnout and other mental health issues. The topic of mental health problems, including burnout, is still kind of a taboo subject among farmers. The aim of the conference is to address the topic of mental wellbeing in the farming community as well as to showcase good practices and find solutions that could help support the farming community in dealing with this problem.
