Women in Agriculture
The second Agro Woman conference focuses on supporting women from agricultural communities, emphasizing their role as leaders and innovators in the farming sector. Gender equality is one of the fundamental values of the European Union, with particular attention given to increasing women’s participation in the socio-economic development of rural areas, especially their contribution to shaping innovative agriculture. The first study in Poland on the living and social conditions of women in agriculture—conducted by the Foundation in cooperation with the Institute of Rural and Agricultural Development of the Polish Academy of Sciences and the Agency for Restructuring and Modernisation of Agriculture—represents a significant step toward identifying the specific needs of women in agriculture. This will allow for more precisely tailored policies and support programs targeting this sector. The conference will present the findings of this study, along with experiences from other countries that promote the professional and personal development of women in the agricultural sector.

The mental health and wellbeing of female farmers is one of the elements of sustainable agriculture. In agriculture, a lot of things are said about animal welfare, and very little about human welfare. Welfare should be about the whole ecosystem. The unpredictability of remuneration, the market, the weather and yields, as well as more and more regulations and the lack of sufficient time off work affect the psychological wellbeing of those working in agriculture.
